Razzil Darkbrew the Alchemist is a melee strength hero who utilises his alchemical prowess as a versatile but strange fighter. He is an unusual carry based upon transmuting fallen enemies into large amounts of bonus gold, with both an early game and late game presence due to his large health pool and the first strike nature of his spells. His balanced statistics and the sure promise of gold for items means he can be one of the most disparately built heroes in the game.
Unstable Concoction is his main contribution early on, dealing good damage and a lengthy stun. Acid Spray allows him to rapidly clear waves of creeps for his Greevil's Greed to contribute massive amounts of extra income. A well-equipped Alchemist can then use Chemical Rage to its fullest effect, as the extra health, incredible regeneration, and base attack time reduction make it one of the best steroid abilities in the game.

The sacred science of Chymistry was a Darkbrew family tradition, but no Darkbrew had ever shown the kind of creativity, ambition, and recklessness of young Razzil. However, when adulthood came calling he pushed aside the family trade to try his hand at manufacturing gold through Alchemy. In an act of audacity befitting his reputation, Razzil announced he would transmute an entire mountain into gold. Following two decades of research and spending and preparation, he failed spectacularly, quickly finding himself imprisoned for the widespread destruction his experiment wrought. Yet Razzil was never one to take a setback lightly, and sought escape to continue his research. When his new cellmate turned out to be a fierce ogre, he found just the opportunity he needed. After convincing the ogre not to eat him, Razzil set about carefully concocting a tincture for it to drink, made from the moulds and mosses growing in the prison stone work. In a week’s time, it seemed ready. When the ogre drank the potion, it flew into an unstoppable berserker rage, destroying the cell bars and exploding through walls and guards alike. They soon found themselves lost somewhere in the forest surrounding the city with a trail of wreckage in their wake and no signs of pursuit. In the tonic’s afterglow, the ogre seemed serene, happy, and even eager. Resolving to work together, the pair set off to collect the materials needed to attempt Razzil’s Alchemic transmutation once more.

| Alchemist brews up an unstable concoction that he can throw at an enemy hero, to stun and deal damage. The longer the concoction brews, the more damage it deals and the longer the target is stunned. After 5 seconds, the brew reaches its maximum damage and stun time. However, after 7 seconds, the concoction will explode on Alchemist himself if not thrown. Unstable Concoction always affects a 175 area around where it explodes, including when it explodes on Alchemist.

| A silver lining to the failure of turning a mountain into gold, this volatile solution has destructive potential.

Notes:
- Alchemist casts to begin brewing and the spell then becomes usable while the brew increases in potency. Alchemist can still take actions while the spell is active.
- A timer above Alchemist's head will indicate the remaining brew time. (This timer cannot be seen by enemies).
- Maximum effects will be achieved after 5 seconds brewing time.
- It will blow up if charged for more than 7 seconds without throwing, checked at 0.5 second intervals (allowing up to 7.5 seconds brew time)
- The concoction moves at 900 speed, and provides 400/400 sight range.
- If the concoction explodes mid air, it will affect one enemy unit within 175 radius around its position.
- Magic immunity blocks the effect of the spell when it is cast on Alchemist as normal.
- If the Alchemist is affected by crowd control effects, the concoction will continue to be brewed, and can still explode and stun the Alchemist.
- If Alchemist dies while brewing, Unstable Concoction will explode on the spot where he dies.
- Alchemist can commit suicide using Unstable Concotion. This counts as a deny, and will not award gold to any enemies.
- Can be cast on heroes who are magic immune - damage goes through, stun does not.

- An early point in Greevil's Greed will significantly increase Alchemist's income.
- Smart opponents will make it difficult to land Unstable Concoction by juking and avoiding your vision, causing the backfire. It may be better to use it immediately when an enemy reaches the treeline, even if you lose damage and stun duration.
- Use Acid Spray to dissuade enemies from defending their towers, or pushing into yours.
- Feel free to use Chemical Rage for its healing effects; it will even regenerate its own mana cost over the duration!
- Avoid skirmishes if your Chemical Rage is on cooldown, especially in the early/mid-game stage when you have few items.
- If you are in tight spot and nowhere to run with low HP especially without Town Portal Scrolls or Boots of Travel, use Unstable Concotion to commit suicide if possible.
- Chemical Rage is the strongest DPS booster in the game (giving a 70% boost in DPS at level 3). This means that Alchemist scales very strongly with damage items, however at the same time Alchemist does very little damage without damage items. This means if Alchemist is going to contribute into team battles, its imperative to get damage items
[edit] Trivia
- At one point during beta, Alchemist's bio consisted entirely of the following sentence: "Alchemist is named Al and is a chemist. "[1]
- Alchemist's third skill name remained unchanged from its DotA counterpart until after the Diretide event, when it was changed into "Greevil's Greed."
- Alchemist has the lowest overall stat growth of any hero in game (+4.8 per level)

- Damage rescaled from 150/200/250/300 to 120/180/240/300.
6.65
- Razzil brews up an unstable concoction that he can throw at an enemy hero, to stun and deal damage. Once Razzil starts brewing, he can continue for up to 5 seconds. Each second of brewing will increase the potency of the concoction and make Razzil more red. After the 5 seconds, there is a small buffer window. If Razzil does not throw the concoction soon after it will blow up and Razzil himself will suffer as if he was hit by the concoction. Concoction can blow up mid air if fired too late.
- Charge Duration: up to 5 seconds
- Buffer Duration: 1.5
- Damage: Up to 150/200/250/300 (Physical damage type)
- Stun: Up to 1/2/3/4 seconds
- Cooldown: 16
- Manacost: 90
- The longer it charges up, the more damage and stun it deals. Listed values are the maximum.
- Note: This is hero only target spell. You cannot release it if there isn't a visible target nearby (if you don't release it on time, it explodes on you instead, damage and stunning you). After casting, it builds up for 5 seconds. There is a small buffer duration after that.
- Note 2: Alchemist has a red counter that counts down from 5 ontop of his head. Everyone can see this. It will be clear to the enemy when you are charging this.
- Not Channeling
