N'aix the Lifestealer is a melee strength Hero, usually built towards a carry or jungler. He is considered a great carry because of his excellent survivability and his abilities that counter tanks. This vicious monster possesses abilities that revolve around health percentages, allowing him to engage in a fight against tanky Heroes. He can also make himself magic immune for a duration, while also able to hide in other units, even allied Heroes, and burst out of them to deal damage and surprise his opponents. Because of this, he usually hides in initiators or anyone who could displace themselves quickly into a group of opponents.
Lifestealer may have great survivability, but his difficulty is too much for a new player to cope up. He is recommended for intermediate players.

| Lore: |
In the dungeons of Devarque, a vengeful wizard lay in shackles, plotting his escape. He shared his cell with a gibbering creature known as N'aix, a thief cursed by the Vile Council with longevity, so that its life-sentence for theft and cozening might be as punishing as possible. Over the years, its chains had corroded, along with its sanity; N'aix retained no memory of its former life and no longer dreamt of escape. Seeing a perfect vessel for his plans, the wizard wove a spell of Infestation and cast his life-force into N'aix's body, intending to compel N'aix to sacrifice itself in a frenzy of violence while the mage returned to his body and crept away unnoticed. Instead, the wizard found his mind caught in a vortex of madness so powerful that it swept away his plans and shattered his will. Jarred to consciousness by the sudden infusion of fresh life, N'aix woke from its nightmare of madness and obeyed the disembodied voice that filled its skull, which had only the one thought: To escape. In that moment Lifestealer was born. The creature cast its mind into dungeon guards and soldiers, compelling them to open locks and cut down their companions, opening an unobstructed path to freedom while feeding on their lives. Lifestealer still wears the broken shackles as a warning that none may hold him, but on the inside remains a prisoner. Two minds inhabit the single form--a nameless creature of malevolent cunning, and the Master whose voice he pretends to obey.

Explanation:
- Armlet of Mordiggian is N'aix's core item due to his lifesteal. The player may have this item active throughout every fight, since his Feast ability negate the health loss.
- N'aix's Rage increases his attack speed, thus the players should aim for either Mjollnir or Skull Basher which are chance based items and with a higher attack speed it allows the items to proc more.
- Desolator increases Lifestealer's damage, lifesteal and eventually critical hits (if you chose to go for Daedalus or Crystalys) to hit incredibly hard against any targets.
- Assault Cuirass is sometimes more often used if your team wants to end the game fast and is pushing a lot as it gives a attack speed and armor bonus and decreases the armor of towers.
- Skull Basher and Monkey King Bar are situational. If your team has already an AoE disabler (Enigma, Tidehunter, Earthshaker, etc) it might be viable to go for attack speed and/or damage instead.
- Heart of Tarrasque will allow Lifestealer to keep Armlet of Mordiggian activated indefinitely.

[edit] Trivia
- Lifestealer's Fun/Alternate Name was Gollum, referring to a Lord of the Rings character.
[edit] Update History
[edit] Ability Change Log
6.72
- Infest reworked. Before, allowed targeting of Alied and Neutral non-hero units at level 1, and Alied, Neutral, and Enemy non-hero units at level 2 and 3. At level 1 and 2, Naix would heal for the current health of the unit when he leaves, while at level 3 he would heal for the max HP of the unit. Upon leaving, the unit would be killed. Spell Cooldown was 100/60/30, had a 150 range, and a mana cost of 50. Changed version allows the target of allied heroes, allied units, enemy units, and neturals. When Naix comes out, he deals 150/275/400 magic damage in a 700 AoE. If the unit is an enemy unit or a neutral, Naix will heal for the amount of HP it currently has when leaving, killing it. Spell has a 150 range, 100 second cooldown, and a mana cost of 50.
6.70
- Open Wounds team life steal increased from 10/15/20/25% to 15/20/25/30%
