Nature's Prophet is a ranged Intelligence hero, whose play style is totally different from most Intelligence heroes, he relies more on his strong physical attacks than his spells to take down enemy Heroes. Most commonly played as a pusher and jungler and now known as a strong semi-carry. Nature's Prophet has superb farming capabilities, thanks to his physical attack damage and spells, and has the special ability of global presence, giving him the power to be anywhere on the map and aid his allies in need. The powers of Nature's Prophet revolve around nature, specifically the trees. He can use Sprout to create a ring of trees around a unit, trapping them in place. He is widely known for his Teleportation which grants him global mobility and be present to any parts on the map. His mobility on the map is only rivaled by Tinker with Boots of Travel. The trees around him serve as his objects of power, summoning sentient tree beings known as Treants from trees on the map with his Nature's Call ability. Wrath of Nature is his main and only directly damaging spell in his arsenal, but it can potentially be very powerful, as it can inflict increased damage with each bounce off subsequent enemies, and can clear out multiple creep waves with a moderate cooldown and mana cost. Nature's Prophet is a guardian and a valued ally that teams need, and his supporting capabilities are marvelous. But he is more than just a helper, as with enough farm for items, Prophet becomes a reckoning force of nature as a semi-carry.

Nature's Prophet Nature's Prophet
Play "I woke within the seed and saw my destiny, and many were its branches."
Role: Pip jungler.png Jungler / Pip pusher.png Pusher / Pip carry.png Carry / Pip tank.png Escape
Lore: When Verodicia, Goddess of the Woods, had finished filling in the green places, having planted the coiled-up spirit in the seed, having lured the twining waters from deep within the rock, having sworn the sun its full attention to the growing things, she realized that her own time had reached its end, and like one of the leaves whose fate she had imprinted in the seed, she would fall without seeing the fruiting of her dream. It pained her to leave the world bereft, for the sprouts had not yet broken through the soil--and they would be tender and vulnerable to every sort of harm. She found in her seed pouch one last seed that she had missed in the sowing. She spoke a single word into the seed and swallowed it as she fell. Her vast body decomposed throughout the long winter, becoming the humus that would feed the seedlings in the spring. And on the morning of the vernal equinox, before the rest of the forest had begun to wake, that last seed ripened and burst in an instant. From it stepped Nature's Prophet, in full leaf, strong and wise, possessing Verodicia's power to foresee where he would be needed most in defense of the green places--and any who might be fortunate enough to call him an ally.

[edit] Tips

  • Map awareness is especially important with Nature's Prophet. Always be on the lookout for opportunities to gank and push, or kill a low-HP fleeing enemy Hero.
  • Teleportation can be canceled intentionally to trick your opponents.
  • Teleportation can be used to kill the enemy courier just as well as weakened heroes - if the courier's location is known (perhaps from Clockwerk's Rocket Flare or a chance sighting), it may be a good idea to warp ahead and kill it before it can return to base.
  • Sprouting an enemy hero and using Nature's Call will surround your enemy in Treants; this is often far more effective offensively than simply leaving the trees for their short duration.
  • Sprout can be used on towers to block their vision and momentarily halt their fire. Consider casting it during tower dives or ranged pushes, if there's no better uses for it.
  • Wrath of Nature deals more and more damage as it cuts a swath through enemy units. With each unit passed and hit, the damage increases - Try to send it through as many creeps as you can before it strikes a Hero. This generally works by targeting the spell to the Top Lane if you want maximum damage dealt to the Bottom Lane and vice versa.
  • Make sure to always look out for your team mates. Help them when they are in trouble and assist them when they are trying to get a kill. This is often much more important than farming. Nature's Prophet has global potential - use it.

[edit] Trivia

  • During the transition from the original DotA to Dota 2, one of Prophet's skills, Call of Nature, was renamed Nature's Call.
  • Nature's Prophet original name was Furion, a reference to the Malfurion Stormrage from the Warcraft universe. [1] His Dota 2 name had to be changed in order to avoid copyright issues with Blizzard. He is still called Furion by the majority of the player base and is referred to as "Furion" in the game files.
  • One of Nature's Prophet spawning responses "I speak for the trees" is a direct reference and homage to Dr. Seuss's The Lorax.
  • One of Prophet's last hit responses "green is good" is a reference to "greed is good," a quote from the 1987 film Wall Street.
    • "greedisgood" was also a cheat code in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos which gave the player extra resources.
