Tiny is a melee Hero with powerful ganking potential. Using Avalanche in conjunction with Toss allows for massive amounts of damage as well as a long area of effect stun. Those foolish enough to attack him may be rewarded with a stun from his passive ability Craggy Exterior. Although at first he may live up to his name, he will gradually grow in size and power with his ultimate, Grow. While fragile early game, he will soon turn into a hulking behemoth with massive health and damage output.

Though Tiny may sound like an easy hero to use, his effectiveness is mainly based on timing and positioning making him an incompatible hero for new players to use. He is recommended for intermediate to advanced players.

[edit] Bio

Tiny Tiny, the Stone Giant
"Thus are mountains built!"
Role: Disabler / Nuker / Initiator / Durable
Lore: Coming to life as a chunk of stone, Tiny's origins are a mystery on which he continually speculates. He is a Stone Giant now, but what did he used to be? A splinter broken from a Golem's heel? A shard swept from a gargoyle-sculptor's workshop? A fragment of the Oracular Visage of Garthos? A deep curiosity drives him, and he travels the world tirelessly seeking his origins, his parentage, his people. As he roams, he gathers weight and size; the forces that weather lesser rocks, instead cause Tiny to grow and ever grow.

Avalanche icon.png
Ability Affects Damage
Target Point Enemies Magical
Bombards an area with rocks, stunning and damaging enemy land units.
Range: 600
Radius: 275
Stun Duration: 1
Damage: 100/180/260/300
Cooldown 17 Mana 120
Inanimate rock becomes animate when called by the Stone Giant.

Notes:

  • If an enemy is Tossed and then hit by Avalanche at the same time, they will take twice the damage from Avalanche.
  • While the duration of the stun from Avalanche is 1 second after the spell finishes, Avalanche itself lasts for 1 second, meaning units hit by it will be stunned for a full two seconds.

Toss
Blocked by Magic Immunity. Not blocked by Linken's Sphere.
W
T

Ability Affects Damage
Target Unit Enemies Magical
Grabs a random unit in a 250 radius around Tiny, friend or enemy, and launches it at the target unit to deal damage where they land. If the tossed unit is an enemy, it will take an extra 20% damage. Toss does more damage as Tiny's size increases.
Range: 700/900/1100/1300
Pickup Radius: 250
Target Radius: 275
Toss Duration: 1
Damage: 75/150/225/300
Tossed Unit Extra Damage: 20%
Tossed Unit Extra Damage with Grow!: 35%/50%/65% (50%/65%/80%*)
Cooldown 10 Mana 120
Can be Improved by Aghanim's Scepter (* shows the improved values). Improves Tossed unit extra damage.
Tiny's gargantuan stature allows him to catapult even the sturdiest of warriors.

Notes:

  • If an enemy is Tossed and then hit by Avalanche at the same time, they will take twice the damage from Avalanche.
  • Toss picks a random unit within 250 range to throw. Unit may be allied. Allies will take no damage.
  • Damages structures

Craggy Exterior
Blocked by Magic Immunity. Not blocked by Linken's Sphere.
E
C
Craggy Exterior icon.png
Ability Affects Damage
Passive Enemies Magical
Causes damage to bounce back on Tiny's attackers. Enemies that attack Tiny from within 300 units have a chance of being stunned for 1.2 seconds.
Stun Duration: 1.2
Armor Bonus: 2/3/4/5
Stun Chance: 6%/12%/18%/24%
Damage: 25/35/45/55
Melee warriors tend to find attacking the Stone Giant largely ineffective.

Notes:

  • Works on physical attacks within 300 range of Tiny.
  • The stun and damage occur at the beginning of the attack.

Grow!
R
W
Grow icon.png
Ability Affects
Passive Self
Tiny gains craggy mass that increases his power at the cost of his attack speed. Increases Tossed unit damage and improves movement speed.
Damage Bonus: 50/100/150
Attack Speed Reduction: 20%/35%/50%
Movement Speed Increase: 20/40/60
Can be Improved by Aghanim's Scepter (* shows the improved values). Allows Tiny to equip a tree, which increases his attack range to 235. His attacks also gain 50% cleave in a 400 radius, and deal 75% bonus damage to buildings.
Watching a hill become a mountain is awe-inspiring - especially if the mountain begins laying waste to adversaries.

Notes:

  • Allies still take no damage from Toss.
  • If Aghanim's Scepter is purchased, Tiny will equip a tree, regardless of level. However, he will not experience improved Toss damage, attack range, or Cleave until Grow! is leveled at least once.

[edit] Recommended Items

Explanation:

  • Getting Arcane Boots early in the game will help you maximize usage of the Avalanche/Toss combo.
  • Blink Dagger is a commonly built item on Tiny. Used in conjunction with the Avalanche/Toss combo, it can cause massive burst damage to one or more enemy heroes.

[edit] Tips

  • By using Avalanche and then using Toss as soon as you can on an enemy hero it provides the maximum amount of damage that can be done to a single enemy using your spells.
  • The Blink Dagger is the perfect item to get on Tiny as it helps him gank consistently early game and pick up more kills and escape if needed.
  • When leveling your skills early game it is better to max your Avalanche and Toss to gain more kills early game, if you don't feel confident enough to hit a "Combo" than ask a team mate with a stun, such as Crystal Maiden or Vengeful Spirit, to use their stun first.
  • At close range, tossing a unit at itself will do extra damage, as the tossed unit will receive both tossed unit damage and the damage from being struck by toss. Use this extra burst to finish off heroes when avalanche is on cd.
  • Early game, tossing an allied initiator such as Slardar or Earthshaker at foes can set their skills up perfectly.
  • Once you pick up a Blink Dagger, it can be a useful strategy to blink in and then toss an enemy back towards your waiting allies.

[edit] Trivia

  • Tiny's quote "Tiny Smash!" is a reference to the comic book superhero The Incredible Hulk.
  • Tiny is the only hero in Dota 2 that is able to wield a weapon (in his case a Tree) when built with Aghanim's Scepter.
